Lipstick, as I'm sure is also most other ladies.. Is my absolute favourite part of putting on my make up in the morning, it's also the most dangerous category in my make up collection as I can never really seem to resist buying new ones! In pretty shades with pretty packaging (the packaging being what lures me in the majority of the time.. Especially if it's rose gold, damn you Charlotte Tilbury!) & with my recent decision to completely stop using products, including cosmetics that test on animals in any kind of way, that did mean getting rid of literally every single lipstick I owned as heartbreakingly all of the brands of lipstick I owned do test. But I am excited to start building my collection up again and don't be disheartened as there are still plenty of decent brands that are cruelty free, much to my delight! Two of which being Bourgois and Illamasqua (insert happy dance).. I did a little thinking about the variety of lipstick shades that I tend to enjoy sacrificing my bank account for and adding to my make up bag and thought I'd do a little post about two lipsticks that I've grown to love recently, one a bold shade and one a subtle shade & I thought it might be quite interesting to also see whether any of you reading prefer a bold or more lighter lip look! I guess you could also go by day time/night time looks, but I am often known to be wearing a bold red lip throughout the day.. During that time praying that none of it gets on my teeth!

Illamasqua Lipstick in Sangers - I've wanted to get my hands on pretty much anything Illamasqua for quite some time now and I thought what  better place to start than a lipstick, a very red one at that!  Illamasqua describes it as a 'Blood Red' which it quite literally is, the perfect red. In terms of consistency I think I'll always prefer a matte red lip over a glossy one, just because I think it makes the lip look a lot bolder and you probably have a lot less chance of smudging it, i.e kissing, eating or the lipstick on teeth scenario (we've all been there). And it does stay on all through the night, almost to the point where it doesn't want to come off! I've only ever owned a few but this is the best red lipstick I'm yet to own, it ticks all the boxes and I always get a few compliments when I wear it! Plus if I curl my hair & put on a nice dress when I go out walking through the cobbled streets, who's to say I can't pretend I'm straight back in 1940.. Illamasqua says "Let your lips speak volumes. Indulge in colour-intense lipstick with a highly pigmented formula, glides on smoothly and doesn't give up without a fight for the perfect all-night pout."

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in 03 PĂȘche Cosy - I've never owned anything from Bourgois before, but it being one of the only two drugstore brands that don't test on animals I've been really loving getting to know some of their products recently and am really impressed by the amount of lovely items they have to offer. I really love the packaging on this lipstick, it's big & bold and feels a very nice quality, also I really love the fact that you can see what shade the lipstick is without having to open the lid, very handy! I'm so happy with the shade I picked up, it's a very peachy, subtle pinky kind of shade and although I love a red lip, sometimes I feel like there's nothing prettier than just a little hint of colour on the lips! It glides on so smoothly and it's very easy to apply as it has kind of a very small square like nib detail at the tip of the lipstick, makes sure you cover the whole lip even when it gets a little trickier towards the edge! It's also enriched with 1/4 pure laque for a radiant, glossy finish and orchid blossom extract which helps it to glide onto the lips leaving them feeling smooth, hydrated and protected.

Overall I think I'd probably have to say a bold/red lip is my favourite kind to wear, not necessarily on a day to day basis but I just think it gives any kind of look that little extra something. Do you prefer a bold lipstick look or a more subtle one? I'd love to know in the comments below! :-)
